Malva Verticellata
The malva vericellata plant is one of the latest plants that are being consumed as a healthy food. This plant is currently primarily consumed as a tea. Understanding more about the plant can help more people feel more comfortable with the consumption of this more or less harmless plant. It should be noted that no changes in a person's diet or exercise routine should be made without the approval of a medical professional or doctor. A failure to gain a doctor's approval may lead to a potentially fatal change in the way that the individual's medications react within the body and with each other. The malva verticellata is a hardy flowering plant. This plant can be grown in soils that are considered zone 6 and is not prone to frost damage. This flowering plant tends to produce flowers in between July and September and can continue to flower the entire length of the flowering season. The flowers should be pinched off after they flower to stimulate additional buds to form. The flower is self-fertile although it does require pollination via an insect or artificial pollination in order to produce seeds. These flowers prefer partial shade or dappled sunlight to direct sunlight or constant shade, but will flourish in any lighting condition. This plant has a natural defense against rabbits that keeps them from ravishing these flowers. This may be the taste in the leaves, especially those leaves from plants grown in a nitrogen rich soil, or it may be the smell of the flower. In addition the plant's leaves may have a texture that the rabbits do not agree with. This flower is prone to rust fungus and root rot though. Rust fungus grows on the soil around the plant and eventually kills it by removing the nutrients from the plant. Root rot occurs when the soil that the plant is in is continually wet. This causes the roots to be infected with fungus and rot away. In addition, root rot causes the roots to lose their original strength by keeping the area around the roots constantly damp. |
